The Editor

Welcome to Issue 39, December 2016.

I reached the milestone of three score years and ten half way through preparing this issue. I’m not sure where the last 15 years have gone since I ‘escaped’ from the Post Office on early voluntary release but I’m determined to continue to draw from The Post Office Staff Superannuation Fund for a good few more years yet. Likewise, I love this job and I won’t be giving it up any time soon.

Paul Ireland has once again excelled with his video production of the 2016 TTT 2 Tour. It’s been on our Facebook page for a couple of weeks, but if you haven’t seen it you can watch it below:

Peter Cole tells me that bookings are coming in well for the 2017 Tour, with around half the rooms already taken. Silly me omitted to give you the dates of the Tour in the last issue, so here’s the full details, starting with the dates, which are 18th to 21st August. The Tour is based on the Chichester Park Hotel, Chichester, West Sussex. The hotel website is

Telephone number of the hotel is 01243 817434.

The rate for the weekend is £370 per room based on 2 guests sharing, to include dinner, bed & breakfast. For those not staying on the Sunday night the equivalent rate is £270.

Single Occupancy rooms will incur a supplement of £25.00 per night.

The Tour organisers are Vanessa and Peter Cole. When you have booked, Peter would appreciate an e-mail advice from you to let him know that you have done so. Peter’s e-mail address is as follows: pcoleuk(at) {substitute @ for (at)}.

The venue for the 2018 Tour of the Cotswolds has now been booked and the details are as follows:

The Tour is based on the Wyck Hill House Hotel & Spa, Stow-on-the-Wold. The telephone number of the hotel is 01451 831936.

The hotel website is

The dates are 17th to 20th August.

The hotel describes itself as a “Romantic 4-star Country Hotel & Spa situated in large private grounds just outside Stow-on-the-Wold in the heart of the Cotswolds. Large contemporary bedrooms, oak panelled lounge areas and simply stunning food.”

Booking reference is 63999. A £100 deposit per room is required to confirm the booking. The remaining balance to be settled on departure from the hotel. The cancellation policy for bookings is two weeks prior to arrival. Before this point, the full deposit can be refunded. After this point, the full deposit will be non-refundable.

The rate for the weekend is £550 per room based on 2 guests sharing, to include dinner, bed & breakfast. For those not staying on the Sunday night the equivalent rate is £380.

Unfortunately, there are no single rooms; the rate for single occupancy remains to be determined.

The joint organisers are Brian Rainbow and John James.

We will be attending the Carole Nash International MG & Triumph Spares Day at Stoneleigh on Sunday 19th February. As usual we will be in Hall 1 on a shared stand with ‘TA Brian’. In addition to our range of books and manuals we will have some back numbers of this magazine and several back issues of ‘The Sacred Octagon’. The Editor will also be offering for sale the selection of new T-Type spares he carries, including polyurethane bushes for TC/TD/TF and Y models.

We have finally got our incorporation through as THE MG ‘T’ SOCIETY LIMITED and now there is much work to do in setting up a bank account and inviting applications for membership. More details will be given in the next issue.

Finally, I might at long last have my J2 on the road in the New Year. Pic of it going up to Shropshire to have its engine and gearbox fitted. I took the doors off and the seats out for the journey, which was just as well as it rained on the way there.
