This is an original UK car with matching numbers and a build date of 22/04/1954.

The bodywork is painted Ivory white; the upholstery is red and the carpets black. All are in good condition, as is the chrome work.

The hood and side screens were made to measure and fitted by AS Pickering of Bradford in Tan Stayfast. A full tonneau is available.

The cockpit is fitted with Cobra bucket seats (don't knock them till you've tried them) on the original runners and a 14" leather steering wheel (the original seats and steering wheel are available and easily re-fitted). The instruments are original and in full working order, including the clock.

The engine and unleaded head were re-built by George Edney. The 1350cc motor is fully balanced and fitted with 3 ring Aerolite pistons. The head is ported and gas flowed, calibrated to give a compression ratio of 8.5 to 1 with bronze guides and 21/4N stainless steel valves - 36mm inlet & 34mm exhaust.

A spin-off oil filter conversion has been fitted along with a stainless steel exhaust system. The regulator/control box is an electronic conversion and the distributor is fitted with a Pertronics Ignitor. The SU fuel pump is also electronic.
Separate indicators are fitted to the front and rear of the car together with a stop/tail light conversion.

The 5 speed conversion is by Hi-Gear Engineering with a Ford type 9 Sierra gearbox.
A replacement CW&P was fitted by Anthony Brier to give a final drive ratio if 4.3:1.
The front suspension is fitted with an anti-roll bar and the rear suspension has Koni shock absorbers.
The rear wheels have 5.5" rims and are fitted with 185/70*15 tyres - the front wheels are fitted with 165*15 tyres. The tyres are date stamped late 2018 and early 2019.

I have owned, upgraded and fully maintained the car since 1992 and it has been kept in a dehumidified garage. A full service/history file and current MOT are available.

The car is located in north Wales and is for sale at £30,500.

IMPORTANT - Please Read

  • It is sad to report that even in our little corner of the internet there are fraudsters and scammers operating. A T-Typer who recently posted a "Wanted" advert has received a response from someone who claimed to have "the parts" he was after, asking for payment via Western Union money transfer (a haven for scammers) and quoting a PO Box address. We can only echo the cautionary note given by Craigslist at the top of every classified ad: Beware any deal involving Western Union, Moneygram, wire transfer, cashier check, money order, shipping, escrow, or any promise of transaction protection/certification/guarantee.
  • When you receive a response to a Wanted advert on ttypes.org, apply common sense. Does the person sound like a T-Typer? Ask for photos of all of the parts, including close-ups on serial numbers or other distinguishing features. If the person refuses or makes excuses, do not continue with the deal. Likewise, if you are selling parts, then be absolutely sure that any payment has cleared completely before shipping anything. Where possible, deal locally, face-to-face, or failing that, use PayPal, which affords you a level of buyer protection.
  • The worldwide MG T-Type community is close-knit, and at ttypes.org we know personally many of the individuals that are part of it, so if you have any doubt at all about a transaction, contact us in the first instance before proceeding with any deal.
